This guide walks through setting up network and USB printers on Windows, macOS, and Linux, plus configuration and troubleshooting.
Network Printer Setup
Windows Setup
- Go to Settings, then Devices, then Printers & Scanners
- Click “Add a printer or scanner”
- Select the printer from the list or use its IP address
- Install drivers if prompted
- Set it as the default printer
- Test with a print document
macOS Setup
- Go to System Preferences, then Printers & Scanners
- Click + to add a printer
- Select your printer
- Choose the driver option
- Add it to the printer list
- Configure the default paper size
Linux Setup
- Open CUPS (Common Unix Printing System)
- Add a new printer
- Enter the printer IP address
- Select the driver or model
- Configure settings
- Test print
USB Printer Connection
Direct Connection
- Connect the USB cable to the computer
- Windows: drivers install automatically
- macOS: drivers install automatically
- Linux: may need manual driver install
- Check Device Manager for status
- Set as default if desired
