Installing the ALCO USA Support Agent: A Step-by-Step Guide for Windows & Mac
The ALCO USA Support Agent is a lightweight, secure background application that allows our Help Desk to monitor machine health, deploy critical security patches, and provide remote desktop assistance when you request it.
If you are setting up a personal machine for remote work or deploying a new corporate device that missed initial configuration, follow these installation steps.
Deployment Prerequisites
Before running the installer, ensure your machine is connected to a stable internet connection and that you have local administrative privileges to authorize software installations.
Installation for Windows (Windows 10 & 11)
Download the Windows installer package from your onboarding link: win-dl.alcousa.org.
Locate the downloaded file (ALCO_Agent_Setup.msi) in your Downloads folder and double-click it to execute.
Click Next on the welcome screen. Accept the End User License Agreement (EULA) and click Next.
Click Install. When the Windows User Account Control (UAC) prompt appears asking, “Do you want to allow this app to make changes to your device?”, click Yes.
Once the installation process completes, click Finish.
Verify installation by looking for the blue and white ALCO USA icon in your system tray near the clock.
Installation for macOS (macOS 12 Monterey and Newer)
Due to Apple’s strict security architecture, installing the agent requires granting specific system permissions after the initial file installation.
Download the macOS installer package: mac-dl.alcousa.org/.
Open the downloaded file (ALCO_Agent_Setup.pkg) and follow the on-screen installer prompts. You will be asked to enter your Mac’s administrator password to authorize the install.
Once completed, a prompt will appear indicating that the application requires system permissions to function properly.
Open your Mac’s System Settings (or System Preferences) and navigate to Privacy & Security.
You must grant permissions for the ALCO Agent under the following three categories:
Accessibility: Allows our technicians to use control inputs during a remote support session.
Screen Recording: Allows technicians to view your monitor during an active support session.
Full Disk Access: Allows background security patching and automated software updates.
Click the toggle switches to blue for the ALCO Agent in each section. Your installation is now complete, and the icon will appear in your top menu bar.
